IS IT TO SOON FOR PROMISE RINGS?

I'm a sophmore, hes a freshman…and yes i know how this sounds. We antiquated for 8 months when i was in 7th class and he was in 6th, he was my initial love I was his initial love. the usually reason we pennyless up wuz since i was movin behind to NC. Well 3 years after I still love him and he still loves me and we speak bland for at slightest an hour. He is movin to the easterly seashore from LV. And he told me he was gonna get me a guarantee ring cuz when he got behind here he was gonna get behind with me. And hes not ur standard HS kid…he has similar to a 4.0 GPA, he sip a lot of village service, he acts similar to hes 40 infrequently and is unequivocally grown up and he is unequivocally continuous to his faith. I know were immature and I know this sounds funny but we have been in love. I am additionally gonna give him a guarantee ring…but is it to most to soon. I meant come on…8 months of dating and 3 and a half years of being most appropriate friends….

Promise rings are stupid. That's just an excuse to not get engaged is all. So you should just get engaged if you're gonna waste money on promise rings.

if the only thing on your mind is time then no it's not to early. If you can think of any other reason's then stop and think about the whole.

I'm in the same situation in a way. I'm a Junior and she's a Junior and we've been dating for a year come August 5th. We've been through hell together and stayed strong and stuck to it and are still together. And we're looking for something special to do together so we know we won't lose one another. And your idea how a promise ring seems like a good one to solve our problem.
Being in the same shoes as you.. I don't think it's too soon at all and I know how it feels thinking everyone's gonna think you're crazy when you say you're in love. But who else can know other than the 2 of you?

If you think that the promise ring means that you are promising to marry and spend your lives together, then it seems unlikely. (And I DO know how it feels to hear that at your age.) Your feelings now are real and significant, but despite his maturity, neither of you has an adult perspective of who you are, who you plan to be, what you want to do with your life. Some of that is already formed, but not enough to make lifelong commitments now. If, on the other hand the promise rings mean that "I love you now and I think I will keep on loving you and I plan to explore this relationship more as we get older.", that's more reasonable. There are many, many experiences in high school, college and career that you should take part in, so don't limit yourselves in experiencing the world. If you stay in touch and share your experiences and feelings, you will be able to see whether your life plans and values continue to move along the same path or diverge.

First off, promise rings are not stupid. Because a PROMISE ring could not have to do with anything dealing with engagement or marriage. There are many kinds of promise rings, a pre-engagement is the most common; however, not the only one. There are chastity promise rings, monogamy promise rings, christian promise rings, friendship promise rings, and substance abstinence promise rings. And they do not always have to deal with a couple. A promise ring, is just a ring, that symbolizes some sort of an agreement with another person or to yourself. Also, the guy can be given a promsise ring as well . . . that's why people make them for men, women, and couples. As for your situation, I had one sort of like it. My boyfriend and I were friends in 7th grade, dated in 8th grade, but broke up because we came from 2 different *clicks* and were hassled to the point where we could not bear it anymore. When we broke up, we stayed best friends, until our Junior year in high school, we finally had the same *click*. We began dating again and have been going strong for over a year now (btw we kicked our clicks to the curbs). In 2 weeks, we will be startin college, and we just got promise rings today. They were a promise to be true to one another . . . nowhere near getting engaged though. The age and timing of the promise ring depends on the promise made. If you are promising to get married, yes, maybe it is too soon. But if you are promising something else, it might not be. Just make sure, you both know exactly what the promise is, and be sure that the promise rings are given genuinely and sincerely, no matter what the promise.If you are still unsure, this site might help.
And even after, if you are still unsure, then just get a cheap promise ring. k
